Heuland Simpson engineered a cad drawing detailing the complete installation of the biometric readers which was later used as the official layout for implementing the homeland security system in Fernandina Beach and is being considered for possible use at other sites in Florida.

Heuland Simpson coordinated with Department of Highway & Motor Safety / Transportation Security Administration / Department of Homeland Security and officials involved with the implementation of the Transportation Workers Identification Card program to complete the installation of the biometric devices.

In reference to the installation of biometric readers, Heuland Simpson read through a large assortment of technical guidelines and specifications from multiple vendors and organizations and then took that information to draw up the best schematics that complied with all of the requirements set forth for the installation of the new homeland security system.

Heuland Simpson also did additional work with fiber optic networking building a fiber backbone intranet to connect several different buildings, all of which were city blocks away from one another. Heuland Simpson then used this setup to create another fiber backbone which allowed the biometric micro controllers to connect to the servers in Tallahassee.
